Adam Lowes is a Test Pilot Instructor (RW) at ITPS (Canada) Ltd. with 17 years of flight test experience and a distinguished 26-year career in the Royal Canadian Air Force. A 2004 graduate of the United States Test Pilot School, Adam holds a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a Graduate Diploma in Business. Throughout his career, he has flown the Sea King for eight years, including operational deployments worldwide.
Adam played a key role in the testing and conversion of the Sea King to ANVIS-compatible lighting, and over the course of 17 years, he evaluated various systems, including IR countermeasures, door guns (Dillon M134, GAU-21, and C-6 GPMG), EO/IR sensors, and Helmet Mounted Displays. His expertise also extends to extensive developmental flight test work on the CH148 Cyclone helicopter. This included performance assessments, handling qualities evaluations, and work on Fly-By-Wire/Flight Director mission modes such as Sonar Cable Angle Hold and Crew Hover.
During his final four years with the Canadian Forces, Adam led the developmental flight testing of the CH148, which involved testing in icing conditions, avionics, and mission-mode development. He also served as the lead test pilot for Shipboard Helicopter Operating Limits, including five months at sea to establish the day, night, and aided envelopes of the CH148 for the Halifax Class Frigate.
Now retired from the Canadian Forces, Adam continues his passion for aviation through teaching and mentoring future flight test professionals.
