In-Ear Communication Earpieces for Aviation
Ermes is an in-ear communication earpiece designed to maintain speech intelligibility under a flight helmet or headset, in the presence of engine and rotor noise. ITPS Canada is the Canadian distributor for Ermes, supplying it to test pilots, flight test engineers, and aircrew.

What is Ermes?
Ermes earpieces incorporate micro-electronic components originally developed for hearing-instrument applications, adapted for the requirements of aviation communication. In this context, speech clarity affects task performance directly: a missed word on frequency can mean a missed call or a delayed response.
Ermes is intended to be worn under a flight helmet or integrated headset, so component size and shape are optimized for that use case. The earpiece is designed to remain unobtrusive during extended wear without reducing transmission quality.
Benefiting Aviation Professionals
Ermes is intended for personnel whose duties depend on reliable radio communication: test pilots, flight test engineers, and rotary- and fixed-wing aircrew, including those flying extended sorties under a helmet.
Its low profile is intended to support comfortable wear under a helmet or headset over extended periods, without the irritation associated with bulkier earpieces. This applies equally to short high-workload sorties and longer flights such as survey or training missions.

Product Lines
Custom Line
ITPS Canada offers the Ermes Custom Line, manufactured from an individual impression of the wearer’s ear canal. Each unit is unique to the individual it was molded for, and is optimized for clarity, isolation, and comfort based on the wearer’s anatomy. Because the shell is built to the exact contours of the ear canal, mitigating extended wear under a helmet or headset.

Ergonomic Line
For applications where a ready-to-issue option is preferred, the Ergonomic Line uses a proprietary shell shape developed from data collected across more than 1,000,000 ear-canal impressions. It is designed to provide a comparable level of noise isolation and comfort without requiring an individual mold, using soft, hypoallergenic silicone intended to adapt to a range of ear shapes.

Features & Benefits
- Comfort under helmet or headset Compact construction allows Ermes to be worn under a flight helmet or headset without creating pressure points during extended wear.
- Individual fit (Custom Line) Each Custom Line earpiece is manufactured from an impression of the wearer’s own ear canal and is fitted to that individual only.
- Noise isolation The shell design is intended to provide passive isolation from cockpit and cabin noise while maintaining audibility of the radio channel.
- Manufacturing background The underlying technology platform is based on more than 40 years of hearing-instrument engineering, applied to the acoustic requirements of aviation communication.
- Customer support ITPS Canada provides customer service for Ermes fittings, including expedited handling for time-sensitive requests.
- Signal clarity The driver and materials used are intended to minimize interference and background noise on the communication channel.
- Receiver selection The receiver used in Ermes was selected following testing intended to meet the acoustic requirements of aviation communication use.
- Quality control Each Ermes unit undergoes quality testing prior to release, consistent with its intended use in operational and training flight environments.
