The Master of Science in Flight Testing (MS FT) is a post-secondary degree approved by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities in Ontario aimed for students holding a science, technology or mathematics undergraduate degree. ITPS is an accredited institution with a 35-year history in flight test academics. The program has a duration of 12 months (three semesters) and consists of mandatory and elective courses toward the 53 academic credits required for graduation. Students may select either the fixed wing (FW) or the rotary wing (RW) programme.

  • FT03 Fixed/Rotary Wing Flying Qualities Flight Tests
  • FT04 Avionics Systems Flight Tests
  • AFT01 Advanced Civil Flight Tests
  • AFT02 Digital Flight Control Systems

Elective Courses

  • ELE01 Unmanned Air Vehicle Flight Tests
  • ELE02 Advanced Military Flight Tests
  • ELE03 Electro-optics and Night Vision Systems Flight Tests
  • ELE04 Stores Certification and Weapons Testing

Admission Criteria

The minimum academic requirements for admission are:

  • An earned 4-Year (or equivalent) BSc in Science, Technology, or Mathematics from a recognized University
  • A minimum average grade of B in the final year of the BSc (A master’s degree from an accredited institution may also satisfy this requirement.)
  • In exceptional cases, prospective students with a 4-Year Bachelor’s degree in other fields will be examined by the Admissions Committee for conditional admission.

English language proficiency must be demonstrated by:

  • Graduation in a BSc from a University where the primary language of instruction is English; OR,
  • Evidence of English Language Proficiency as demonstrated by an acceptable Internationally recognized English Language Test Score equivalent to an IELTS 6.5 (Academic) with no band below 6.0.

Medical Fitness:

  • A minimum of a TC Class 3, EASA Class 2, or equivalent.

Using Academic Credits from SETP-recognised Test Pilot Schools

Are you looking to upgrade your Flight Test Education? Academic credits from other SETP-recognised Test Pilot Schools may be used towards a Master of Science degree at ITPS.

Students are considered on an individual basis and must meet academic and programme requirements.
