Canadian Astronaut Chris Hadfield Visits ITPS

April 23, 2026

We were honoured to welcome Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield to ITPS Canada’s London headquarters earlier this week.

Our CEO, Dave Lohse, welcomed Chris on the aircraft apron as he arrived in his own aircraft at London International Airport (CYXU), where his stellar aviation career began. The tour included an introduction to our L-39 Advanced Controls Evaluator (ACE) in-flight variable stability simulator aircraft and the Hawker Hunter 5th Generation Surrogate Training Aircraft, 5STA. Chris took the time to meet and interact with staff and students, and witnessed firsthand how ITPS operates as a flight test school and active research and development centre.

Like spaceflight, flight testing demands disciplined preparation, sound judgement, and the ability to learn while operating in complex, unfamiliar environments.

It was a privilege to share how ITPS Canada leads the future of aerospace training through operational excellence. Thank you, Chris, for taking the time to visit our school!
