Wrapping up the Two-Day Seminar
The final afternoon of the 13th Annual ITPS Flight Test Seminar, held at ITPS in London, Ontario, featured a highly engaging Fireside Chat with an outstanding panel: Billie Flynn, James Sergeant, Jeffrey Canclini, Kelly Latimer, Rogers Smith, and Ricardo Traven.
The panel explored a range of compelling topics, including “Better, Cheaper, Faster,” the impact of AI on flight test, and concluded with each panelist sharing a memorable – often bizarre or humorous – experience from their career or program.
Following the panel discussion, Makenna Kuzyk, a Master of Science student at ITPS, delivered a presentation titled “Acoustic Detection of Vortex Ring State in Helicopter Flight.” Her presentation was later awarded the Best Presentation of the Seminar award.
Next, Kenneth Katz, Collins Aerospace (retd), presented “Application of CAST to Flight Test Mishap Investigation,” followed by Ricardo Traven, Test Pilot at Boeing, who closed the technical presentations with “Rigging Highly Augmented Aircraft.”
Dave Lohse provided closing remarks and presented Makenna Kuzyk with the $1,000 USD Best Presentation Award. We extend our sincere thanks to our judges for their time and expertise: Adam Lowes, Flight Test Fixed and Rotary Wing Instructor at ITPS; Dr. Andre Celere, P.Eng, Flight Test Engineer at Transport Canada; and Robert Brock, Manager, Flight Test and Human Factors Sector, FAA.
Thank you to all presenters and attendees for your presence and contributions to this outstanding and informative event.
See you next December in Canada for the 14th Annual ITPS Flight Test Seminar!
