Giorgio Clementi, Nominated a Fellow of SETP
International Test Pilots School (ITPS) CEO and President, Giorgio Clementi, was recently nominated a Fellow of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots (SETP). As a dedicated expert in the flight test field for over 36 years, Giorgio has been instrumental in providing a flight test school for aspiring test pilots and flight test engineers, nurtured in a culture of excellence and innovation in the field of experimental and certification flight testing. Under Giorgio’s vision and leadership, the International Test Pilots School (ITPS) not only remains a stalwart in the global flight test education landscape, but it also incorporates an active flight test centre that allows the experienced staff to participate in flight test research and development, and the students to see first-hand how to run successful flight test campaigns. Recent examples include the Hawker Hunter 5th Generation Surrogate Training Aircraft (5STA) and the L39 Advanced Controls Evaluator (ACE) Variable Stability System Aircraft. These and other innovative, leading-edge projects are driven by Giorgio’s commitment to providing world-class aerospace technology for the flight test instruction of civil and military students.
In 2022, SETP awarded Giorgio the Tony LeVier Flight Test Safety Award, in recognition of his significant contributions to the safety of flight test operations. That year, Giorgio was also honoured to have the Society of Flight Test Engineers (SFTE) elect him a Fellow and present him with the Kelly Johnson Award for his outstanding contributions to the flight-testing profession.
Giorgio says: “I am honoured to be elected a Fellow of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots (SETP). I first attended a SETP Symposium 34 years ago and was in awe of the experts I met and the calibre of technical presentations delivered. Over the years, I have greatly appreciated the Society’s work to enhance flight test safety by sharing experiences and lessons learned during flight test programs around the world. I am very grateful to my peers, friends, and colleagues for this recognition.”
The staff and students of ITPS congratulate Giorgio on this well-deserved honour and celebrate his ongoing commitment to pushing the boundaries of aerospace excellence.
